As of Febrary 1, 2012 our core professor of the International Master of Sport Management, Joost de Wit is the new General Director of the Dutch football club RKC WAALWIJK.
Joost de Wit, 48 years old, succeeded Justin Goetzee, who resigned a few months ago. “Joost de Wit has a sound reputation as a business manager”, club commissioner Jan Snoeren comments “and he has experience as a football player and as a coach in amateur and youth football. For us it was a terrific combination; just what we were looking for.”
Joost de Wit knew RKC WAALWIJK already well. “I live nearby, it is only half an hour drive to the stadium. Its’ all just perfect”, he says. “I am passionate about football and I know what is going on at the club, so the decision was easily made. Next months I will read all the documents, and speak with everybody who is involved at the club, from the inside and outside. I know where the organization will be heading for, and what future might lay ahead. I love the fact that I can contribute to it. This is a beautiful sport challenge. It will also be beneficial for the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies, where I teach the MISM and coordinate the content of the study program.”
